Mike McDermott

Director of Learning and Facilitation

Mike McDermott is an experienced learning and organizational development practitioner with a background in leading multi-national and cross-functional teams in ambiguous environments. He takes a holistic approach to leader and team development, emphasizing the critical importance of linking individual resilience, self-knowledge, environmental awareness, and content applicability with a consistent focus on team and organizational needs. Mike has designed, delivered and facilitated courses to teams large and small, and is dedicated to ensuring world-class facilitation that supports and enables learners to be the best leaders and team members they can be.


Growing up in Southeast Asia, Mike joined the US Army where he served at locations around the world. Having graduated from the Army’s most strenuous leadership school (Ranger School), Mike led Paratroopers during five overseas deployments. Service at the United States Military Academy at West Point further deepened his joy for developing leaders. After retiring from the Army, Mike worked with large organizations to build and deliver impactful leadership development programs, create workforce planning, succession, and performance processes, and create a corporate “University.”


Mike holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology (Columbia University), a Bachelors in International Studies (Virginia Military Institute), and certificates in human performance and assessments. He lives just north of New York City and spends his weekends exploring the outdoors with his family.
