The workplace is a melting pot of different backgrounds, ideas, cultures, and attitudes. To successfully navigate this, emotional intelligence (EI) is a critical skill. For leaders of all levels, the “Leading with Emotional Intelligence” workshop provides an experience designed to help participants gain an understanding of emotional intelligence, uncover personal blind spots and develop tools to overcome them.
This course examines multiple models of emotional intelligence with an emphasis on self-awareness.
Through this workshop, participants will learn how to make EI, especially self-awareness, an integral part in expanding leadership impact.
GOALS
Upon completion of “Leading with Emotional Intelligence”, participants will gain necessary skills to improve personal accountability, enhance relational capabilities and apply new-found awareness to become a more effective leader.
OBJECTIVES
- Discuss multiple models of emotional intelligence.
- Describe the Emotional and Social Intelligence (ESI) framework.
- Explain internal and external self-awareness.
- Apply self-awareness techniques to identify current values.
- Employ self-awareness techniques to identify personal triggers.
- Analyze past experiences with leaders (good and bad) to identify the relationship between self-awareness and leadership effectiveness.
FORMAT
Leading with Emotional Intelligence includes a combination of instructional methodologies. Limited plenary sessions serve to educate the entire workshop on relevant concepts, while small group discussions, facilitated by trained leadership coaches and facilitators, allow participants to apply learned concepts to real experiences and draw conclusions based on the newly acquired knowledge. By design, this workshop limits the amount of traditional plenary sessions to allow for maximum small group time, which is where participants benefit the most.
